Honduras’ Bird-rich, Tropical North Coast

This relaxed 9-day tour offers a chance to thoroughly search for the 550+ species found in this part of Honduras. We’ll work our way through many habitats that are easily accessible from our base locations. With only two lodges used throughout – and world-class ones at that! – we’ll immerse ourselves in the region’s endemic and rare bird species, including the endemic Honduran Emerald.

This itinerary explores the lush rainforests near Panacam Lodge, the cloud forests of Santa Barbara National Park, the vast wetlands of Lake Yojoa, and white-sand Caribbean beaches. With our expert guides leading the way, you’ll have the chance to explore Honduras’ best birding hotspots along the North Coast!

Weather and climate

We offer this tour to individuals and groups throughout the year, with November to June being the best period for weather and bird activity. Honduras’ northern regions will expose us to humid tropical and cloud forest climates. Expect daytime highs around 90°F/32°C in lowland rainforests and cooler, misty conditions in cloud forests. Prepare for rain, especially in the afternoon, as we explore these bird-rich areas.
